The path of the waterway cuts the middle of the image and is evenly cropped by the buildings and bridge suggesting to the eyes to quickly find their way to the subject, the gondola. At a second glance the viewer notices the colors of the buildings and the quality of focus throughout the image which helps to make the background an integral subject piece in the image.
The location of the gondola and the gondolier gives a great deal of depth to the image and the smooth water is a nice counterpoint to the angular buildings.
Technically -
The range and clarity of colors is well above desirable. Contrast and texture are solid through the image without being overwhelming.
This picture could easily have become a clutter of colors, shapes, textures and subjects, but the framing and attention to lighting helps to draw the eye to the ideal locations in the image. Top notch work.
Overall...ally? -
I personally enjoy the three people walking at different points on the bridge, almost giving the image another sense of motion. Thank you so much for your contribution to da and we are all looking forward to seeing more from you.
