Either I haven't been exposed to a lot of art or I have seen it all. Whatever it is, I am left truly mesmerized by this stunning monument of creativity.
The background is bright and vibrant. The architecture is cheerful and so are the indigo clothes worn by the lady. But as far as she is concerned, I notice despair and sadness.
But the mighty pencil comes to the rescue. The piece of paper introduces us to hope, to a silver lining, to the light at the end of the tunnel.
The colors fade away but the message only becomes more prominent and brighter.
And suddenly, I feel like one of those two small beings pointing towards the end of despair, the bird.
Visual Art can be beautiful but to be so outstanding, it has achieve an ethereal level of creativity. This photograph does.
First, I'll start off with the vision aspect. The paper itself is very well placed to the slightest detail, almost fitting in with most of the landscape (save for very minor details which aren't very crutial to the piece). The colours are vibrant and warm to the eye, which is nice against the grey image. The only reason why I marked it four stars instead of higher is because of the placement of the hand, which is a little bit awkward in the scenery (and hence why I could even make out the illusion from afar). The hand could have been toned slightly differently to fit in with the background, but that's pretty much my only hint on this piece. The vision itself though, shows mastery of skill.
Then, originality. This piece is quite original because even though there have been many paper vs camera pictures, none have this creativity I feel.
Technique is aboslutely fantastic. I know it's been done before but with skill and imagination it's somewhat mind-blowing. Very true to the principles of photography and art, your technique is pretty much mastered. Great job there. :]
This piece has a lot of impact in both how the colours are set out and how you can really get a 'bam' effect once you stumble on to the picture. The blues at the front go very well with her dress, her red hair goes well with the background, the background fades into subtle colours... all this makes for a truly impressive impact.
Sorry about the length of this, but I really thought this piece was superb and deserved a long critique.
