NEW: Prints now available!

(I actually made this artwork for Diesel in 2011)

Freedom is not far. I intended to represent a girl walking above clouds
from one pyramid's top to another. This is a picture I took from a plane
a few weeks ago when I traveled to Italy. I also made the quick sketch.
If you wish, you can view a detail this link.

A tight rope performer walks among the clouds in this moonlit fantasy"

Freedom Is Not Far

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Traveling to a strange star
Is in our hope and dream
Its freedom is not too far
In the space river stream

Clouds of hope there drifting by
Like white pyramids tops
Castles in the far-off sky
Never images stops

Walking on to the near moon
Our beginning steps where
But we will though be going soon
To stars everywhere

Flying across the space dim sea
To in between dark place
There is trance for you and me
The make-believe ways

Walking and holding balance
Is very hard to do
But if you have acquaintance
With dreams it's up to you

Clouds in our times travel
All's within our own stair
New thoughts in times marvel
Are soon all coming here

I love all of the pics in your project, they make me laugh, they make me smile, they make me think or reflect. But I think this pic just became my favorite: she makes me dream.
I love that you chose a scenery above the clouds, something that for men still belongs to a forbidden world. No one can climb so high, unless taking a plane and being prisoner inside its body of glass and metal, completely unable to interact with the environment.
By the magic of your imagination, your small character can achieve what nobody has achieved before her, and there she goes on her rope above stars, from rooftop to rooftop.

I like a lot how the plane in the drawing adds some modernity to the picture and by contrast gives some materiality to the dream: this is not happening in another world, it happens in our own. All it takes is someone who has the guts to defy the clouds.

There is a tension in this picture between the strength of an ambition and an aspiration, a journey to the stars - and the delicateness of the colors, of the drawing and of the tiny character.
It resolves in an overall feeling of amazing optimism. It seems to say to the world: "whoever you are, however weak or delicate you feel, even in our world you can achieve a lot through dreaming".
Maybe what I'm saying about it is phony, but I do love the message, and I do love the work.

This is like most of your other arts to my mind a masterpiece tres bien! But, the are some pro's and cons, lets start with the cons first:

Cons: The pyramids seem a bit off in this picture, they dont really blend in the whole picture, and the clouds could be rougher.

Pros: But again, the pyramids fit the story, and the originality of this picture amazes me. Really love the background you drew, with the plane, and the little planet, those combinations are perfectly fitted with the moon. and the woman, walking on the ropes, really gives an atmospheric feeling of walking above everything. It is really hard to achieve such feelings, and that's why this is a job well done.

The paper's cut is very clean, looks edited, a more "real" messy look for it would look more realistic IMO
Nice piece whou.
