This shows great use of a narrow depth of field, which is sometimes misused in photography. In this case, both the background and foreground are very similar in color, so upon placing them out of focus, we see quite a smoothly blended, almost dreamy atmosphere for the subject to quietly nestle into. Surely the effect looks almost surreal with the high contrast of black cat and bright green together, but the more people look at it, the more convincingly real the scene appears. Maybe it's due to how many people have come across situations of staring back at a curious cat, thus there's a familiar feeling in looking upon this artwork. Also, the touches of red in the background are just enough to give balanced variations of color to oppose the green, as well as giving the setting a slight flowery feeling than just a void of green grass everywhere. This image would make a calmly bold addition to any collection of cat works.
My first thought was how the subject releases shear Beauty and a Profound connection to me. This beautiful and captivating creature,.. speaks to my soul through his very eyes. The gentleness of the atmosphere is so soothing, I want to reach out to it and to acknowledge to the subject,. I understand. He looks at you, not like he is different from us,. but rather that he is the same as you. Being one with Nature, and Humanity. Invoking almost an Epiphany like state of mind. (Not being partial to being a Black Cat Lover,..had seven). So Beautiful Ben,.... truly!
Wow...this really captures the beauty of nature and it's life. It's like speaking to my soul with it's eyes. Did you edit it at all? And what camera?
